Montréal, May 24 2018 – Interligne, the first response centre providing help and information to those concerned with sexual orientation and gender diversity, invites you to the 10th edition of the sale of watercolours painted by Michel Tremblay, emblematic figure of Quebec literature, on June 3, at Pensionnat Saint-Nom-de-Marie. Presented by Scotia Bank in the form of a silent and live auction, this event will benefit the not-for-profit organisation.
“Our team is proud to have been chosen this year by Michel Tremblay as the beneficiary organisation. Mr. Tremblay is one of Québec’s best-known authors and creators both here and internationally, but also a personality from the communities that we represent. It is therefore with gratitude that we welcome his support. Events like this allow us to continue offering our services 24 hours per day to LGBTQ+ individuals, their friends and family and to service providers in the health, education and social service sectors. Through our fund raising activities, we aim for a greater openness to LGBTQ+ realities,” explains Pascal Vaillancourt, Executive Director of Interligne.
Every two years, Mr. Tremblay offers around 300 watercolours to an organization of his choosing for a benefit auction. This year he has chosen Interligne because he cares greatly for its mission. In addition to his most recent creations, the five watercolours from his newest book entitled “Le peintre d’aquarelles” will be included in the auction.
Every winter, Michel Tremblay paints daily. Painting allows him to rest between writing periods. “In fact, it is the only thing that lets me escape from my writing,” he confides.
The new team of spokespersons for Interligne, including actor Sophie Paradis, author Simon Boulerice, poet and actor Gabrielle Boulianne-Tremblay, as well as host and commentator Nicolas Ouellet, will be present to welcome participants and host the evening.
“The help of Mr. Tremblay and our spokespersons Sophie Paradis, Simon Boulerice, Gabrielle Boulianne-Tremblay and Nicolas Ouellet is essential. Our team is thankful for their involvement and believes that they will contribute equally to acquainting people with our services and promoting inclusion,” explains Robert Asselin, president of Interligne.
