Young LGBTQ+ people may experience homophobia or transphobia at school and feel scared. It is important to understand that this situation is unacceptable because each student has the right to be respected and to feel safe in their school. Young people who experience homophobia or transphobia can talk to the responsible adults at their school (school therapist, social worker, nurse, teachers) to get support. They can also find people they trust outside of school to help them find solutions. Finally, they are strongly advised to call or write to Interligne. It’s free, anonymous and confidential.
