Not necessarily. It is a personal question and nobody can force you to come out. To come out or not is a decision that’s only yours to make, such as when, how and where you want to come out. Some of the things you need to consider before coming out are your will to do so, the support you have access to and whether or not your safety is at risk.

It is important to point out that for many non-heterosexual people, stating their sexual orientation can represent a turning point in their lives or even an important liberating act that allows them to accept their sexual orientation or gender identity better. Coming out puts an end to the stress of having to hide a part of themselves and lets them be more authentic with their friends and family.
