What is lesbophobia?

The Quebec Women’s Health Action Network describes lesbophobia as:

“We know the term homophobia, which refers to ideas, attitudes or discriminatory acts against homosexuals, regardless of gender. But when we equate lesbians with gays and juxtapose their realities, as if they were similar or symmetrical, we deny the inequalities and inequities between men and women. We contribute to lesbians’ invisibility. Indeed, women are still subject to a form of domination called sexism. Lesbians are affected by sexism just like other women. Lesbophobia is therefore not limited to a discriminatory attitude towards sexual orientation as is the case with homophobia; it also refers to the sexism that affects all women. »
