When we decide to come out, how do we do it?
There is not a good or a bad way to come out. You can plan ahead who you want to come out to, where, and how to do it. Starting with someone who you trust and has a habit of supporting you can make things easier. You can do it face to face, write a letter, do it over the phone or any other way that you’d like. You can choose the moment that seems most suitable, the place you want, and the words you prefer. Some people talk about the LGBTQ+ community with their friends and family to test their reaction and take their time to think about the different reactions they might get and about their own expectations. Others come out in a more spontaneous way or with less planning. Again, how you come out is up to you.
