Intersex space
Despite two decades of mobilization for the recognition of intersex realities and rights, a general lack of knowledge on the subject persists to this day.
In the medical system and in everyday life, intersex people continue to be invisible, yet they account for between 1.7% and 3% of births worldwide.
In addition, certain surgical and hormonal procedures that run counter to human rights continue to be carried out.
Hasty decisions about sex, treatments prescribed – not to say forced – by the medical profession in order to “correct” bodies, and the minimization of their psychological and physical effects on the people concerned are excessively disturbing realities.
We exist!
The On existe! program is both informative and interactive. In the Frequently Asked Questions section below, you’ll find information to help you get to grips with intersex realities or understand them better.
Our approach is non-pathologizing, centered on the person’s needs and self-determination. Our aim is to foster the development of a positive and affirmative vision of intersex realities. Ignorance of these realities can have significant negative repercussions in the lives of those concerned. We believe that the diversity of bodies should be valued and celebrated rather than stigmatized and corrected.
