The altView Foundation for Gender Variant and Sexual Minorities’

Since 2007, the altView Foundation has served the queer community in Strathcona County and surrounding areas with several programs. They are the HangOUT, a youth space/activity group, Thought Out, an all-ages discussion group, altView Writes, a course basesd program to assist queer and trans authors in getting their words out, and the altView Presents program, a series of presentations to various public and private groups regarding a variety of LGBTQ-themed topics. In addition to the wide range of programs it offers, altView also provides in- and out-of-school support to Elk Island Public Schools’ Gay/Straight Alliances, providing resources and support to students and staff who wish to work to make their schools safer spaces for LGBTQ students. The foundation has grown considerably since it began as a small youth group in 2007; altView now has an office in Sherwood Park and employs three part-time staff members.

The BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS

The BC-CfE is dedicated to improving the health of British Columbians through the development, ongoing monitoring and dissemination of comprehensive research and treatment programs for HIV, hepatitis C, substance use, mental health and other contagious and socially communicable illnesses. This includes a range of health conditions that could be transmitted through social behaviour.Our objectives are to be achieved in cooperation with government health care professionals, health care organizations, universities and the community of people living with HIV/AIDS and other related diseases.

The Community Outreach Centre

Provides an outreach centre for individuals experiencing homelessness. Services offered include warming Centre, financial assistance counselling, support for individuals seeking employment, food and housing assistance, laundry facilities, shower, phone and computer access.

The Enchanté Network

Nous sommes un réseau national qui relie et soutient plus de 160 centres de fierté et organisations de services 2SLGBTQ au Canada. Notre travail est axé sur les points suivants : Soutenir nos membres, en particulier dans leur travail de développement de leur capacité organisationnelle, afin qu’ils puissent avoir un plus grand impact dans leurs communautés en fournissant efficacement des services et des soutiens; Réduire le travail en silos en mettant nos membres en contact et en favorisant la collaboration; S’engager auprès des bailleurs de fonds et des gouvernements pour défendre les intérêts de nos membres et partager ce dont ils ont besoin pour servir leurs communautés.

The Hideout
