Homophobia refers to any attitude or behaviour that may lead to rejection and direct or indirect discrimination against gay, lesbian, bisexual, or anyone whose appearance or behaviour does not conform to stereotypes of masculinity or femininity.

The term homophobia is referred to in lesbophobia, biphobia, serophobia, when it refers to subgroup-specific prejudices such as lesbian, bisexual and HIV-positive people.
